ART • COMMUNITY • UNITY

Our Mission

We are the California Youth Mural Association (CYMA), a nonprofit organization based in the Tri-Valley region of the Bay Area dedicated to providing high school art clubs and individuals with the resources and guidance to beautify their localities with murals.

This Is the Right Place to Be If You Are:

  • a business, city department, elementary or middle school wanting to beautify your walls with a mural

  • the leader of a high school level art club or volunteering group wanting to represent your local CYMA chapter

  • an individual wanting to start an art club/mural club in your high school as a CYMA chapter

Our Story

How We Began

The CYMA started out as a submission to a final project for an English class.

Why We Paint

Murals bring many benefits to the communities they are in. Our murals have brought life to old walls, strengthened school pride, commemorated important people and events, and represented important ideas like diversity and environmentalism.

Benefits of Murals

By encouraging high schoolers in the Bay to make murals, we aim not only to beautify communities, but to boost student interest and involvement in the fine arts, a form of creative expression that is largely missed out on in today's competitive educational landscape. We design our mural projects to be inclusive to everyone, regardless of artistic ability, to achieve this purpose.

Want to Commission A Mural?

The CYMA is always happy to take on indoor or outdoor mural projects in the Tri-Valley, Fremont, and Cupertino areas. Prices for a mural will vary depending on size, location, and complexity, but all money paid to the CYMA goes solely to the purchase of materials and supplies. We currently have a long waitlist of projects, but if you would like to be added to this list, please contact us using the section below.
